The Kamareddy Half Marathon 2024 - Run For Little Fighters, organized by the Padmapani Society for Human Excellence (PSHE), aims to raise awareness and support for childhood cancer.

Founded in 1993, PSHE focuses on community development, including healthcare and childhood cancer. Their mission includes:

  • Improving early detection and diagnosis.
  • Running awareness campaigns and providing nutritional support.
  • Collaborating with hospitals and schools.
  • Advocating for better policy implementation, such as the Arogyasri scheme.

    • Childhood cancer is a significant issue, contributing to 40% of all cancer cases in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. Globally, around 400,000 children develop cancer each year. While cure rates exceed 80% in high-income countries, they fall below 30% in low- and middle-income countries due to barriers like misdiagnosis, late diagnosis, and limited treatment access.

    Standard therapies include surgery, chemotherapy, and radiotherapy, with a multidisciplinary approach being crucial for recovery and long-term care.
